Welcome!  - to the Official Web Site for the Inverness Half Marathon.  This is an annual Half Marathon and Fun Run which takes place in the Capital City of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness.

The route for the race, must be one of the most beautiful and most scenic for any half marathon, running alongside the meandering River Ness and below Inverness Castle before continuing along towards the famous Loch Ness.

Our Sponsors
. . .
The on-going success and growth of The Inverness Half Marathon, is testimony to all those who freely give up their spare time to ensure the day is a success and enjoyed by everyone.

The event of course owes a great deal also, to our kind sponsors who make annual donations to us to help provide the 'goodies' and medals to all the runners, so once again, - a big thank-you to our sponsors for supporting us each year, - your support is very much appreciated!

What a keen lot you are!.

We have already had a number of enquiries about next year's race and entry forms so here is the the latest information. The race will be on Sunday 8th March 2009.
It will be the 25th running of the Half Marathon so we are considering it our "Silver" anniversary (original or what!) and will be looking to organise something special for everyone - but we don't quite know what just yet - so watch this space for more details.

Entry forms, as usual, will be available around September/October so once again keep looking on our website for information.

There were 1053 finishers and the last runner home rounded off the event in a time of 3h.22m.12s.

Lost Property
If you have lost anything please let us know either by emailing organisers@invernesshalf.co.uk us or telephoning 07867 516624.
(One runner thinks he must have picked up the wrong goody bag somewhere as he has found an MP3 player inside that does not belong to him – he will be returning it to us so if the owner contacts us we will pass it on)

Photographs
There are some truly remarkable photographs of the half marathon taken at the Start, Ness Walk (out and back) and at the Finish and the Presentations of Trophies. They are remarkable not only for the quality of the photographs but capture also the fact that while some are having “fun” others are suffering for their PB’s. Please click on the “NorthSport Photography link on the side panel of this page to view the hundreds (if not thousands) of photo’s available.

Also photographs of the FUN RUN will be available on the sameNorthSport Photographywebsite soon so keep a look out for them and tell any one you know that ran in the fun run to have a look over the next couple of days also.

Fun Run
We sometimes forget how important the Fun Run is, particularly to those who run it and we would like to thank all those who participated yesterday for their sense of adventure and fun (running with two kids and a buggy has to be the ultimate challenge!!). Well done to all.

T-Shirts
We have been trying desperately for a couple of years to try and get the balance of sizes correct and generally failing miserably. We did come very close this year to satisfying everyone but towards 1215 we finally ran out of small (250 extra this year), extra large (100 less this year) and large (100 less this year). We were then left with medium only, which did not go down to well with some of our slighter or larger runners. We do apologise to those who ended up with a T-shirt that either looked like a night gown or an accessory for a Barbie doll but we promise to try a bit harder next year and satisfy everyone (OK, you can stop laughing now!)

While on the subject of T-Shirts:

Me: Hi how are you doing

Runner: fine thanks

Me: what size T-Shirt would you like, small, medium, large, extra Large

Runner: which is the smallest? (!!!)

Me: no response - speechless (for once)

No, HE wasn’t a blonde!
