Frequently asked questions ...

Is the Half Marathon course accurate? Most definitely! - The course was measured by calibrated cycle wheel using a Jones-Oerth counter, as laid down by The Scottish Athletic Federation. The bike was calibrated against a laser measured 1km distance on the A82 at Dunain, Inverness , using the standard 4 pre-calibration and post calibration measurements. Last measured 25th October 2009.

I am travelling from Edinburgh on Race Day. What can I do if I am running late and will not arrive in time for registration ?
If you know you will just miss registration, you should call us on Tel. No. 07867 516624 and inform us of your estimated time of arrival and someone will wait for you. While we are not able to hold up the start of the race we can leave the timing mats in place (for a short time) so at least you will get an recorded start/finish time and position.

Can I enter the Half Marathon on race day?
There are absolutely NO entries for the Half Marathon on Race Day, but we will take entries for the Fun Run on the day up until 12 noon. It goes without saying though, you would be assisting us a great deal if all Fun Run entries are made at least 10 days prior to the race if at all possible.

What is your policy on medals and T-shirts?
We always try and give a Medal and a T-shirt (sometimes more!) plus a goody bag each year to Half Marathon finishers but for reasons beyond our control we are sometimes unable to provide all of them.

How many water stations are there during the race?
There are 5 water stations, situated at 3m, 6.5m 9m and 11.5miles and at the finish.

How far is the Sports Centre from the railway / bus station?
The railway and bus stations are almost side by side and it is approx. 1.5 miles to the Sports Centre. It is a nice walk along the River Ness and Ness Islands and will take approx. 20-25mins. It would also be an ideal warm-up run! There is a taxi rank outside the station, and a fare will cost you about £5.

Where are the toilets ?
There are toilets at the Sports Centre, and Portaloos near the start and at the 3 and 9 mile points .

Is there any parking in the area?
There is limited parking at the Sports Centre , the Rugby Club and Whin Park as well as some on street parking in the vicinity. Weather permitting there may also be parking available on the football pitches at Bught Park. However, if you intend to arrive nearer to the start time it may be easier to park in one of the city centre car parks and walk to the start. Please DO NOT park in the Ice Rink, it is Private Property and you may find your car locked in the car park!

Where can I stay in Inverness ?
There are many great value hotels and B&B's in Inverness within easy walking of the Start/Finish. There are a number on Ballifeary Rd and Glenurquhart Road that are just minutes away from the start/finish. Have a look on the Internet or Contact the Tourist Information Centre.
