March 2010 Update.....
Just a few days to go now, and we hope that your training has gone well and that you are all bright eyed and bushy tailed for the race.
From our perspective everything is now in place for the event and it is fingers crossed that there are no last minute hitches - (some hope!).
Entries have now closed for the Half Marathon but Fun Run entries can be made up to the day. Please note that we cannot accept any other entries and there are absolutely no entries accepted on the day. We also cannot accept any more exchanges or substitutions.
We have received 1478 entries to date - one more than last year, but given the current financial situation that has hit everyone we are delighted with these numbers.
After the problems with snow a few years ago our thoughts always turn to the weather forecast about now. As ever we will do our best to keep you up to date particularly if there is the likelihood of adverse conditions but in the meantime the forecast as of today is as below but if you want to see for yourself in the run up to the race use this link to the Met Office Website. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/he/he_forecast_weather.html
Finally, please make sure you allow plenty of time to register and that you have enough warm clothing or protection to keep you from seeking the services of the brass monkey welders that tend to frequent Ness Islands at this time of year. (T'was VERY cold last year!)
UK Outlook for Saturday 13 Mar 2010 to Monday 22 Mar 2010:High pressure to the west of the UK should bring largely dry but often quite cloudy conditions to most places at first. There will be some sunshine but also overnight frost and fog where skies clear. There is also a chance of showers affecting some places. The weather becomes more unsettled during the following week and most places are likely to see some rain, possibly falling as snow over hills in the north. The best of any dry and bright weather is expected across the south and east later, but elsewhere further rain is likely. It is likely to become windier, with a chance of gales in exposed places. Temperatures rather cold at first but increasing to near normal in most places, with frost becoming less likely later.
